The Full English will satisfy folk dance and song appetites

The inspiration for the music has come from a project instigated by the English Folk Dance and Song Society.

It draws together some of the most important early 20th century collections into a comprehensive searchable database of British folk songs, tunes, dances and customs in the world.

Spearheaded by folk scholar and singer Fay Hield, The Full English band have delved into the past and turned some of the dusty old pages from the archive into vibrant new sounds.

As well as Fay Hield, The Full English complement includes Nancy Kerr, a boundary-crossing, award-winning singer-songwriter, and Seth Lakeman, an internationally-renowned guitarist.

Also in the line up is Martin Simpson, a double bassist; and Ben Nicolls and two of the most dazzling, in-demand multi-instrumentalists playing today, Rob Harbron and Sam Sweeney.

The band have recorded an album to critical acclaim, using material drawn from the historic collections, and have been described as a folk supergroup

It is on at the Coventry venue on October 31, at 8pm. Tickets £18.
