Warwickshire Bears are always in the box seat against Titans 3

Warwickshire Bears secured a comfortable 55-31 success over London Titans 3 at the Copper Box Arena on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

However, coach Tom Masterson admitted it became a scrappy affair after his side had built up a 23-5 lead in the opening period.

“After the strong start the team put into the first quarter, that gave me the chance to get the rest of the team on court and give them some game time under their belt,” said Masterson.

“It went a bit scrappy with all the changes I made but overall we always looked in charge.”

The Bears started the game strongly with a fluent offence complimented with a tough, resilient defence and their early dominance allowed them to run the bench.

This interrupted their free-flowing basketball and the Titans had the better of the second quarter to narrow the deficit to 14 points.

However, the match result was never in doubt, with Bears edging both the third and fourth periods to run out easy winners.

Ben Haigh scored 18 points for Bears, with Dan Gill (14) also into double figures.

Bears are in action tomorrow when they take part in a demonstration game at the Ricoh Arena’s exhibition hall ahead of Wasps’ game against Newcastle Falcons.
