Voice is on song as Runners’ ladies take the team prize at Pitchcroft 10k

Kenilworth Runners show off their medals after the Pitchcroft 10k.

Sixteen Kenilworth runners took part in the predominantly flat three-lap race on tarmac footpaths around the perimeter of the racecourse.

Heavy showers ceased just before the start of the race, giving way to warm, sunny and windy conditions.

Voice was the first senior lady overall in a time of 39min 50sec.

She was joined in the winning team by Louise Andrews (43:00), who won the F35 prize and Rachel Miller (43:47).

For the men, Kenilworth Runners’ Steve Marr ran an excellent race to finish seventh in a new personal best of 35:58, while Neil Smith ran his fastest 10k for nearly 25 years, clocking 42:20.

Spa Striders’ Dan Stannard and Caroline Whitehouse were rewarded with PBs of 39:20 and 42:19, respectively, with Whitehouse finishing fourth lady.

Leamington C&AC’s Chris Donovan showed a welcome return to form, with a time of 43:22 for 78th place, with clubmate Issy Davis ten seconds back.

The race was won by Stuart Hawkes of Amazing Feet RC in a time of 32:31.

Meanwhile, former Kenilworth Runners Rich Simkiss and Chris McCarthy were part of the McCarkiss Endurance Project team which finished fifth in the Great Newham London Run Marathon Relay.

The team clocked 2:26:49 for the 26.2-mile race which finished inside the former Olympic Stadium.

Chris, Matthew and Jimmy Bull teamed up with Matthew Butler to form a Leamington C&AC team, which finished tenth in 2:52:30.

The race was won by a Kenyan men’s team in 2:02:56, with an elite Great Britain squad in second.

Spa Striders’ Dave Lithgow ran the 10k race, crossing the line in 54:52.
