Ten out of ten for Khalsa

Khalsa recorded their tenth successive league win with a 4-2 defeat of visitors Burton to move eight points clear at the top of the Midlands Premier.

After spurning a succession of early chances, Khalsa took the lead when man-of-the-match Chris Darling beat two players before crossing for Sean Robinson to open the scoring.

Burton equalised against the run of play from a short corner, before Khalsa regained their lead just through Amrit Atwal, who brilliantly deflected home Chris Darling’s 50-yard pass.

Khalsa kept creating chances after the interval and Micky Hayer flicked the ball home to double the hosts’ advantage.

Dharminder Hundal added his tenth goal of the season to make it 4-1 before Burton reduced the arrears with a late consolation.

Khalsa’s 2nds never recovered from starting the game with only eight men against Old Halesonians, going down to a 3-2 defeat.

With a car-load of players still stuck in traffic, Khalsa found themselves 2-0 down inside ten minutes.
