It’s perhaps fitting timing that Newbold and Old Laurentians get together for their second league derby of the season today, Saturday, this time at Parkfield Road, kicking off at 2.15pm.

OLs will be keen to improve on their 45-0 defeat by Newbold back in November. Newbold have had an excellent run to be third in Midlands 1 East, whileOLs are facing relegation.

In Midlands 3 West (South) Rugby Lions won 71-0 over Woodrush and are third in a very tight table. Today Lions are away at Shipston on Stour.

In the East division Rugby St Andrews had a good win over St Neots 34-5, but have slipped to sixth after Old Newtonians withdraw from the league and Saints’ ten points from wins against them have been deducted. This afternoon Saints have a trip to Stewarts & Lloyds, who are ninth in the table.

Rugby Welsh have moved up to second in Midlands 5 West (South) swapping places with Keresley after their 25-17 win at Alwyn Road. Welsh, who are seven points behind leaders Five Ways Old Edwardians, travel to bottom club Wellesbourne.
