Honour for Ives at gala dinner
Baginton veteran Mick Ives was the only Coventry area rider to be honoured at Saturday evening’s British cycling gala dinner at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.
Ives, already a five-times World Masters champion and winner of 15 World Championship medals across road racing, mountain biking and cyclo cross, collected a special award in honour of his recent second place in the World Championships in Kentucky, America.
Ives is currently undergoing treatment for a dislodged vertebrae in his lower back sustained in a crash during the championship before resuming training ahead of his 57th season of summer and winter racing.
