Thomas transformed

Manager Lee Knight paid tribute to Leon Thomas after the midfielder’s fourth goal in four games helped earn Racers a useful point at Pershore.

Thomas’ 69th-minute strike added to a first-half Luke Fuller effort to put the visitors 2-1 up and on course to close the gap on second-bottom Alveston to two points.

However, despite a last-minute Craig Carter goal levelling the scores, Knight said the transformation in Thomas had laid the platform for Racers’ improved form, a sequence which has given them renewed hope of overhauling the two teams above them.

“For where he’s been and the games he’s had at the level above and the level above that, he needed to bring more to the the table,” said Knight.

“We sat down and had a talk and since then he’s been our best player for the last four or five games and it’s a credit to him.”
