Rampant Racers have six appeal

A spell of four goals in eight minutes accounted for the Midland Combination Division One side and made it ten goals in two away games for Lee Knight’s side.

It followed on from Saturday’s defeat at home to Brinklow, which saw two second-half goals from the Coventry Alliance Division One side cancel out Reece Lynch’s first-half header.

With a FA Vase meeting with Wisbech on the horizon and Racers already holding games in hand on many of their Midland Combination Premier rivals, Knight was not overly disappointed to see his side bow out of the Challenge Cup.

However, he said Tuesday’s win, which featured goals from Junior Brown (2), Craig Thomas, Danny Charlton, Myron Semper and Adrian Neil, showcased the Jekyll and Hyde nature of his side.

“The biggest challenge is getting them right mentally,” said Knight, who hopes to add Nuneaton Griff striker Ricardo Richards to his squad for tomorrow’s trip to Castle Vale JKS. “We turned it on for ten to 15 minutes, scored four goals and looked untouchable.

“But we also had lapses where we dropped off and made silly errors as a team. There’s a fine line between good and bad at the moment.”
