Racing Club Warwick are once again eyeing a mid-table spot in the Midland Combination Premier after a 2-1 win over Pelsall Villa.

The demise of Castle Vale JKS and the subsequent loss of six points for Matthew Hayden’s side saw Racing Club slide down the league.

However, after their come-from-behind win over struggling Pelsall, a comfortable mid-table spot is once again with their grasp.

Jamie Corrigan was the hero for Racing Club, with goals either side of the interval completing back-to-back wins for his side.

Tomorrow, Pershore are the visitors to Townsend Meadow (3pm).

Racing Club’s youth team overturned a 1-0 half-time deficit to beat visitors Worcester City and move 12 points clear at the top of the Midlands Floodlit Youth League.

Ciaron Houston set Shaquille Leachman up for Racers’ equaliser, with skipper Spencer Bradley converting Josh Tiff’s free-kick to give the hosts all three points.

The victory made it nine wins from nine but manager Terry Protheroe said the rustiness was to be expected.

“We were slightly bemused that for all of our possession we didn’t put the visitors to the sword,” said Protheroe.

“We must be more ruthless in front of goal and take our chances.

“However, after such a lengthy lay-off due to the inclement weather since the turn of the year we have produced a winning performance and retained our 100 per cent record.”
