Racers bring losing streak to an end

Racing Club Warwick claimed their first Midland Combination Premier Division point since October with a 2-2 draw at home to Lichfield City on Tuesday night.

As in their previous game, Racing Club conceded inside the first minute, with Ashley Bennett pouncing for the visitors.

Racing Club were level ten minutes later, however, when Eli Jones took advantage of a defensive mix-up to slot home.

Luke Wilson then put the home side in front from the penalty spot despite Lichfield protesting that the offence was outside the box.

Parity was restored before the break when Kyle Minto headed home and Racers dug in after the break to claim a valuable point despite Wilson being dismissed for a second bookable offence.

n Racers suffered a 5-0 defeat at Brocton on Saturday.

Gary Fife opened the scoring for the home side inside the first minute and, after the hosts had spurned a number of chances, added his second as Brocton made a blistering start to the match.

Racers’ willing frontrunners worked hard, but the match was over as a contest when Dave Berks added a third before the break.

The visitors enjoyed their best period after the restart, but it was Brocton who made their chances count, Jordan Bloor netting their fourth.

Racers were reduced to ten men before Joe Pickering completed the rout.
