With forward Ryan Langmead, midfielder Harry Jervis and full-back Alex Jervis coming into the starting line-up, Racers were confident of making it three wins from three.

However, Blackwood took advantage of a below-par first-half performance from the visitors to open up a 1-0 lead through Adam Humphries and held on to clinch only their second win of the campaign.

Manager Michael Hayden pulled no punches after the game, accusing Racing Club of complacency against their lower-placed opponents.

“As a group and in terms of the team’s work rate all season they have been fantastic,” said Hayden.

“But what I won’t accept is players turning up on a Saturday or Tuesday and thinking they have won a game before it has even kicked off.

“I was very disappointed by the attitude and the way certain players approached the game.

“Fair play to Blackwood, they showed our boys that if we don’t approach each game in the right manner then they will get turned over.

“Some players need to understand that to play at this level you have to show that desire every game against every opposition or look elsewhere as I refuse to see my team perform that way again.”
