Folkard remains UK number one

Leamington’s Naomi Folkard topped the ladies’ recurve listings for the 11th time in the recently published UK rankings.

The rankings are based on best scores during the outdoor season (three ladies FITA rounds and two FITA 70 rounds), with archers also required to shoot an Olympic or Compound match round to be eligible for ranking.

Folkard has had a fine season, putting in some excellent scores which have seen her break a number of national records.

Her ranking score of 5,323 put her comfortably ahead of Dearne Valley’s Amy Oliver (5,287) and five-time Olympian Alison Williamson (5,146).

Folkard first topped the rankings as a 16-year-old junior in 2000.

She was unable to compete fully in 2003 because of A-levels, but has otherwise maintained the number one position.
