FAB time for Risk and Ellis

Leamington Badminton Club celebrated their first anniversary last Saturday with a doubles competition.

The all-inclusive social group has gone from strength to strength over the past year, which was demonstrated by the 12 teams that entered the First Anniversary Badminton (FAB) Tournament.

Organised by newly elected chairman Nic Lee, the tournament at St Nicholas Park Sports Centre in Warwick saw a mix of ages, genders and abilities who all had their eyes on the trophy.

But after a tough competition which saw many close encounters, several upsets, and much laughter, last year’s finalists Lucas Thrillson and Jonathon Risk again faced each other, partnered by Kay Adams and Cindy Hanyu Lin Ellis, respectively.

The final was a tense affair, with favourites Risk and Ellis edging their way to victory in two sets.
