Class win is a family affair for Matt and Jonathan

Warwick brothers Matthew and Jonathan Jackson teamed up for class glory in the Midsummer Stages at Caerwent military complex.

Renowned as a car-breaker, the ten-mile stages are lined with large kerbs which are used to keep heavy military vehicles on the narrow, twisty roads.

In sweltering conditions, a cautious start and the award of a notional time after the first stage was ended early, left the duo - in their first competitive race together - playing catch-up.

However, they slowly recouped the time and exited the final stage with a healthy lead of more than one-and-a-half minutes to record an excellent 1400 class victory in their 1000cc-engined car.

Matthew said: “With Jonathan having not competed at the venue before, it took a stage or so for us to get into the groove. But once we did that it was a case of just finishing and not damaging the car.”

The next time Matthew and Jonathan compete it will be against each other, as they resume their BRC Challenge Super 1000 championship campaigns.
