Youths steal Audi sports car after asking for their ball back

CAR thieves in Radford Semele made off with an Audi sports car after pretending to have kicked a ball into the owner’s garden - and then assaulting her for the keys.

The criminals took the dark grey Audi S3 saloon from a home in The Greswoldes, Radford Semele near Leamington on Tuesday at 12.30pm on Tuesday.

The robbery occurred after a woman returned from shopping and heard a knock at the door.

When she opened the door she saw a youth in his late teens who asked if he could have his ball back from her garden. She went with him to the side of the house and was pushed over by another youth.

The youths took the car keys while she was on the ground. One then stole her car from outside the house and drove off towards the Fosse Way.

Early witness reports indicate the other got into a small light grey car and drove off in an unknown direction.

Both men are described as clean shaven, white with pasty skin, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, of skinny build and aged 16 to 18 years old.

One is described as having mid brown short hair. The other had dark hair and spoke with a speech impediment. He was wearing a dark top.

At the time of the robbery, the police helicopter was in the area and was used to search surrounding roads for the vehicle without success.

Officers carried out house to house enquiries and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen two young men acting suspiciously just before lunchtime on Tuesday, or who saw a dark grey Audi saloon being driven, possibly at speed, from the Radford Semele area.

Any witnesses should contact Pc Lance Pearce in the Neighbourhood Protection Team at Leamington on 415000 extension 4283, voicemail 11620 or can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
