Youths attack police vehicle in Old Town

Police were called after a member of the public reported a small group of youths causing damage to a vehicle in Brunswick Street at around 11pm.

The offenders are reported to have made off from the scene.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on Friday and was held in custody at Leamington police station awaiting questioning.

Warwickshire Police issued a statement earlier this week stating there had been no incidents of disorder in the county.

Police press officers were unavailable to confirm whether Tuesday night’s attack may have been influenced by rioting and looting in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
