Warwickshire towel fires spark warning

WARWICKSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service are warning people to take care in the way they wash their towels, following a spate of fires across the county caused by overheating in tumble driers.

Firefighters across the country have attended several incidents in recent months where towels used in leisure centres and beauty establishments have caught fire because of oil residue in the towels overheating and igniting in tumble driers.

Businesses and residents are being urged to wash towels at 90 degrees if they might contain massage oils, along with using a good detergent, to ensure the oils are removed properly.
