Warwickshire force investigates police corruption

WARWICKSHIRE police officers who have been leading an investigation into alleged corruption in another police force have arrested three people in North Yorkshire.

Earlier this year, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary appointed Warwickshire’s chief constable Keith Bristow to head enquiries into a number of people with current or past associations with Cleveland Police Authority.

On Wednesday officers arrested two men and a women on suspicion of misconduct in a public office, fraud by abuse of position and corrupt practice. The woman was later released on bail, while the men were detained in custody. Searches are also being carried out at various premises in connection with the arrests.

A spokeswoman for Warwickshire Police said no further information is currently available.
