Warwick man who died following altercation is identified as 75-year-old William Heathcote

A man whose death is being investigated by Warwickshire Police has been formally identified as 75-year-old William Heathcote of Pickard Street in Warwick.

Mr Heathcote collapsed on Pickard Street on Tuesday evening and was taken to Warwick Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His family is being supported by a specially trained police officer.

Four adults and three juveniles from Warwick and Leamington have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the incident. They are a 16 year-old girl, a 15 year-old boy, a 23 year-old man, an 18 year-old woman, two 17 year-old boys and a 15 year-old girl.

Police were called at about 8.50pm on Tuesday to a report of a man having collapsed. There is believed to have been an interaction between the man and a group of people prior to his collapse.

Chief Insp Michael Naughton said: “The man’s next of kin have been being kept informed and our thoughts and sympathies are with them at this tragic time. We are still working to establish the exact circumstances of this incident and the seven people are assisting us in achieving this. The family of the deceased continue to be supported by specially trained police officers.

“We continue to appeal to anyone who has any information and ask them to contact Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 357 of November 18, 2014.”
