Warning to drivers as south Warwickshire roads flood

CARS attempting to drive through flooded roads in south Warwickshire have had to be rescued by the emergency services.

Police community support officer Ed King, of the Warwick Rural East safer neighbourhood team, took this picture of a car which had been abandoned in a road in Offchurch on Friday December 21.

And on the next day, an ambulance was called to rescue a driver whose car had become stuck in a flooded road in Walton, near Wellesbourne. The driver had managed to get out of the car and was not injured.

Pcso King said: “If you can avoid it, it’s best not to drive through lying surface water as you might flood your engine. The deepest water is usually nearest the kerb.

“Know your vehicles capabilities - don’t attempt to drive through deep water and risk getting stuck.“
