Visitors to see journey from udder to fridge

Warwickshire’s biggest one-day agricultural show will have a dairy theme for its 70th year.

The Kenilworth Show is returning to the 50-acre site opposite the main entrance to Stoneleigh Park and will be held on Saturday, June 1.

Staged by the Kenilworth and District Agricultural Show, organisers want exhibitors to help showcase how the journey from the udder to the fridge is made.

Show secretary Lizz Clarke said: “We’ve lined up a fantastic theme which will help to capture the imagination of thousands of visitors.

“Nearly every household will enjoy dairy-based products every day of the week.

“A lot of people will however be unaware of all the processes which go into making sure families get to enjoy a cup of tea or cheese on toast.

“I’m sure lots of people will find it interesting to hear about all the different processes which have moved on over the years, from taking care of cattle to robotic milking.”

One of the exhibitors supporting the show is GEA Farm Technologies, one of the world’s leading milking technology firms which has its headquarters on Stoneleigh Park.

Regional sales manager Dave Simmons said:“We’re looking forward to showcasing some of the very latest dairying technologies which will highlight to the public just how advanced modern dairy farming has become.”

Along with agricultural attractions, there will also be homecraft competitions, trade stands and activities – with more to be announced.
