Update: Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance called after workman is injured seriously in Leamington

A workman has suffered serious injuries in an industrial accident involving a JCB digger in Leamington this afternoon (Friday).

Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was called to the incident, which took place in Clarendon Street at about 3.30pm, in which a 47-year-old man had suffered serious leg and pelvic injuries.

He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

Another workman was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Four police cars, two paramedics and an ambulance were also at the scene where a crowd had gathered.

Police had blocked traffic approaching the street from the cross roads near the Clarendon Lodge Medical centre and pedestrians were being directed away from the scene.
