Three people hospitalised by road traffic collision

Three people were taken to hospital following a road traffic collision in Wellesbourne yesterday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Kineton Road shortly before 2.55pm yesterday afternoon.

Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, two ambulance officers, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival at the scene crews found two cars that had been in collision.

“The first vehicle had been carrying three occupants at the time of the incident. Two of the occupants were found to be trapped in the vehicle.

“The driver of the vehicle, a man believed to be in his 50s, was trapped in the car.

“Once freed, he was treated for minor chest injuries and conveyed, via land ambulance, to Warwick Hospital.

“A rear seat passenger was also trapped in the vehicle.

“The patient, a woman believed to be in her 20s, was extricated from the car with the assistance of the fire service and treated for injuries to her pelvis and femur.

“She was immobilised and airlifted to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment.

“The third occupant of the vehicle was out of the car on the crew’s arrival.

“The man, believed to be in his late 20s, was immobilised at the scene and conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham via air ambulance with an existing medical condition.

“Four people had been travelling in the second vehicle, a silver Renault Scenic.

“A woman and two young children and another child of approximately 10 years were assessed and treated at the scene for minor injuries but did not require any further hospital treatment.”
