Teenager charged with rape after incident at Leamington supermarket’s car park

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with rape after an incident at the Morrisons car park in Old Warwick Road in Leamington on Sunday June 15.

Police are appealing to witnesses following the report of a sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl which happened at about 1.30am.

Acting Det Sgt James Coleman said: “I would encourage anyone with any information or sightings to come forward, and like to reassure the public that Warwickshire Police are committed to taking such allegations seriously and protecting the community from harm.”

The boy, who is from South Warwickshire but cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged on Monday 7 July with rape in connection to the incident and has since been remanded in custody until Tuesday 22 July when he will appear at Warwick Crown Court.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen a boy or girl in the area at the time of the sexual assault to call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 251 of Sunday July 6.
