“There have been a number of reports of burglaries whereby offenders have been able to gain access to insecure sheds or garages that have been inadequately secured.

Police are increasing patrols in the area to deter thieves and make people aware of the steps they can take to protect their property.

“Crime prevention advice would be to ensure that all sheds and outhouses are fitted with good quality locks and security lighting. It is also a good idea to plant trees and thorny bushes near to walls or fence lines to prevent intruders from gaining entry to gardens.

We’d also recommend people to lock away all garden tools after use.

By being vigilant and mindful of security people can prevent a crime from happening in the first place and avoid the distress that comes with it. ”
