Sehmi shines as youthful GB side earn a Euro bronze

The new-look GB side showed plenty of promise despite a group-stage wobble which saw then beaten by an inspired Finland team.

However, they recovered to overcome Belgium and win their group, with Sehmi full of praise for the squad’s emerging talent.

“Despite our young team, we played very well. Everyone stuck to his position and did a 100 per cent job.”

Sweden proved too good in the knockout stages, beating GB 57-43.

However, an emphatic 56-43 win over Germany in the third-fourth play-off clinched the bronze medal.

Speaking about the event as a whole, Sehmi went on to say: “The atmosphere was just perfect, the Belgians really surpassed themselves in the organisation and we have been warmly received.

“There is nothing negative to say about the event.”

Sweden went on to claim the gold medal with a thrilling 49-48 final victory over Denmark.
