School poets helping to keep the peace

ASPIRING poets at Warwick School have been inspired by the work of a Leamington-based charity ahead of National Poetry Day next week.

International peace building charity CORD’s work on the different concept of time in war-torn countries has led year nine pupils Alex Luciano and Benjamin Lavelle to head up a collection of poetry called Generation Rising.

The title was based on the book Generation Risen written by John Masefield, an old Warwickian, and all profits from the publication will go to CORD.

Last week they held a Food for Thought event with food and wine, where boys from all year groups read out their poems. So far 180 copies of the magazine have been sold, and £1,250 already raised for CORD.
