Former regulars of the Red House in Radford Road and people living nearby met earlier this month to discuss the planning application to turn the pub, which closed last July, into three flats and build two three-storey houses in the beer garden, with those attending being unanimous in their objection to the proposals.

A petition to have the pub reopened now has 96 signatures and both the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and ward councillor John Barrott (Lab, Leamington Wiles) are supporting the campaign.

Campaigner Anthony Dwyer said: “The Red House has always been a community facility and should remain open for both local residents and people from across Leamington to use.

The plans will go before Warwick District Council’s planning committee at Leamington town hall on Tuesday evening.”
