‘Proud to be part of an amazing community’

A community coffee morning organised by Leamington residents proved to be an outstanding success.

A group of friends & neighbours from Highland Road decided to do something together on behalf of the community by hosting a coffee event on behalf of Macmillan Cancer research as it was a cause that they all felt very passionate about and wanted to raise funds and awareness.

The event was held on Saturday October 4 at Lillington Free Church, Cubbington Road. There was a raffle, an adult tombola, kids’ tombola, book stall, clothes stall, guess the name of the teddy, lucky dip, lots of homemade cakes and refreshments.

Lisa Rubio, one of the organisers, said: “We were absolutely blown away by the amount of people that turned up on the day to support us and completely overwhelmed by the generosity of the local companies who were so kind in offering us fabulous raffle prizes.

“We would like to send a huge thank you out to Tesco Lillington for supplying all of the refreshments on the day, Leamington & County Golf Club, Restaurant 23, The Regency Arms, Episode Hotels, Zizzi Leamington, Warwick Castle, Hatton Country World, The Heritage Motor Museum, Boost Hair & Beauty, The Windmill Inn, The Nuffield Leisure Centre, Quigley’s Butchers to name but a few for donating amazing raffle and tombola prizes which helped make our event such a huge success. We raised an awesome £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Research on the da. A special mention goes out to Jeanette Pugh of Wild Creature Features for giving her time so freely by coming along on the day with some of her furry or not so furry friends. The kids and adults alike loved it.
