Pooch power at new dog agility sessions in Cubbington

DOGS are being put through their paces and learning to be more obedient at new agility classes in Cubbington.

The fun and sociable classes, which take place at the Waverely Equestrian Centre in Coventry Road on Saturday mornings, are taken by Hayley Thomas of Taming Canines.

All breeds are welcome including dogs with behavioural issues, while dogs aged under 12 months can be trained to take on obstacles for when they get older.

Miss Thomas said: “Basic obedience is necessary for doing agility, however I teach all skills needed to do agility in with the classes.

“I have ten years of experience of working with dogs on different levels, from training my own dogs and doing the Kennel Clubs Good Citizen Dog Scheme, to training and running my own dogs and other peoples dogs at agility.

“Following this, I qualified to become a dog training instructor with the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers.

“Since then, I have done private training for individuals in their own homes, before opening and running agility classes in Redditch.

“Unfortunately the premises changed hands and they had plans that didn’t include dog training.

“Having recently moved to the Leamington area and acquiring new premises that are all year round and all-weather proof.

“As classes get more popular, I am hoping to hold at least one evening class as well as extra weekend classes.”
