He was jailed for eight years.

A third defendant, Jake Hall, also 19 and from Burnthurst Lane, Princethorpe, had pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and common assault.

The victim, 42-year-old Frederico Rosso, sustained serious head injuries when he was thumped and kicked in the head to the point of unconsciousness and then had his head stamped on.

He sustained brain damage in the attack and remains unable to speak, stand or walk and is likely to need care for the rest of his life.

Speaking after the sentencing, Det Supt Alex Franklin-Smith said: “This was a sickening and senseless attack of such violence that their victim will never be able to lead a normal life again.

“I hope that the length of the sentences they have received will allow the family and friends of their victim some comfort in knowing that they will be in jail for a considerable time.

“I also hope that Bryant and Van Kesteren use the time they are in prison time to reflect on the gravity of what they have done.”
