Police arrest five men after wave of robberies

POLICE investigating a series of robberies in Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth are appealing for information from the public to help identify the offenders and bring them to justice.

The robberies occurred between Friday March 9 and Friday March 16, usually between 10pm and 2am, and involved a group of between two and five people wearing dark clothing and coverings over their faces.

The muggers struck in places including Montague Walk, Warwick, Tachbrook Street in Old Town and the Pump Room Gardens, Leamington, York Passage, Leamington and Abbey Fields, Kenilworth. Nobody was seriously hurt.

Three men aged 27, 28 and 29 were arrested in connection with the incidents on Monday, following the execution of a warrant in Brunswick Street, Leamington. A further two men were arrested yesterday (Tuesday March 20).

All five have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A number of items including mobile phones and iPods have been recovered and officers investigating the offences would like to hear from anyone who has witnessed or been involved in a robbery or can help identify the property.
