Police appeal for robbery witnesses - but won’t say where the thieves struck

Warwickshire Police have refused to name the businesses where a robbery and attempted robbery took place in its witness appeal because the premises are victims of crime.

Cash totalling £250 was taken in the Warwick robbery at 10.20pm on Monday December 14 - two hours after attempts were made to rob a takeaway in Leamington.

CCTV footage from the scene has been released and the premises are known to be the BP garage in Stratford Road and Subway in Leamington’s Tachbrook Park Drive.

But officers have refused to confirm these details in its witness appeal - referring simply to a garage and a food outlet in the two towns because the businesses are victims of crime and need protecting.

A spokesperson said: “We do not name victims of crime to protect the identity of the victims involved. This also includes business premises.”

A man (pictured) wanted for questioning is described as being white, around 5ft 5 to 5’ 10” tall and of a larger build.

He was wearing a dark coloured jacket and light grey jogging bottoms as well as a full blue motorcycle helmet with a red or orange sticker or emblem above the visor.

DC Sara Taylor said: “The helmet is distinctive and we are confident that someone will know who it belongs to.”
