Following his grandmother’s ovarian cancer diagnosis, Joseph – who attends St Margaret’s School in Whitnash – became determined to raise as much money as possible to help research the disease; splitting all donations between Macmillan Cancer Support and Myton Hospice.

Joseph said: “When I found out that my nanny had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer I was very upset and so I wanted to help her and all of the other people that are suffering in the same way.

“I’ll be swimming 5k because I love a challenge and I decided the best way to raise lots of money would be by doing something I enjoy.”

Joseph is a member of Leamington Spa Amateur Swim Club and will be using the Newbold Comyn pool to complete his 200 lengths on June 28. He has already raised over £400 – more than doubling his target. To sponsor Joseph, visit www.justgiving.com/teams/Josephswimathon.
