The Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Terry Morris, has now been in the role for more than a month.

He has now taken the opportunity to look back at what he and his consort Liz Jackson have been up to since he was elected into the role.

Here's what the mayor had to say about his first month:

"Reflecting back on my first month as the Mayor of Warwick, my initial thought was 'Wow. Where has that time gone'.

"However, the question isn’t that difficult to answer given that the first two weeks were spent in self-isolation.

"As some people know, Liz and I were on holiday in Tenerife just before Mayor Making when the rules on travelling to and from Spain changed.

"As a result, I think that I’m the first Mayor to be sworn in without physically being present.

"That said, thanks to the fabulous teams at Warwick Town Council and St Mary’s Church, Mayor Making went ahead with councillors, civic guests and a small number of friends and family in the church plus Liz and I video-conferenced in from our house.

"Not the Mayor Making we envisaged, but certainly not one to be forgotten.

"Fast forward two weeks and we attended our first formal mayoral engagement 'in the flesh'.

"Again, not what I had initially expected – the first 'job' was to drive a crane to commence the demolition of the gymnasium at Kings High School.

And so the mayoral year truly began…

Since then, we’ve re-opened the train ride at St Nicholas Park, handed out awards (both the Service Veterans and Local Heroes), re-opened one of Warwick’s many fine restaurants, viewed lots of scarecrows in the first st ever Woodloes Scarecrow Festival and cut the hair of a wonderful seven-year old girl who donated her locks to charity.

"It’s fair to say that it’s been a busy and unusual first month.

"We’ve also received lots of warm words of support and already met many fabulous people.

"So, where has the time gone? It’s mostly been consumed by lots of smiles.

"Thanks again to the residents of Warwick and everyone else we’ve met along the way for your overwhelming support.

"We look forward to serving you for the remainder of this civic year."
