Reports of teenagers loitering in Rugby - parents told to keep them home or the police will bring them home

Rugby Police are warning parents to take responsibility for the whereabouts of their children and teenagers after reports of groups of young people breaching social distancing measures.

Yesterday, March 25, a spokesperson for Rugby Police said: "We have been receiving reports of children and teens not complying with social distancing.

"As a parent or guardian it is your responsibility to ensure your children are at home and completing set school work.

"They should not be out at parks or loitering in alleyways.

"Please don't make it necessary for us to start bringing them home

"If they need to go out they should be accompanied with a family member from the same household."

If you don't know where they are and who they are coming into contact with how do you know they are not bringing Covid-19 home and putting the whole family at risk?"

"This is not a public holiday it is a national health emergency."

The force's Facebook post attracted huge support from the public, with some suggesting that parents should be fined if their children have to be brought back to them.

This latest warning comes after Rugby council said their wardens are to begin to patrol Rugby's parks to ensure that people are obeying the social distancing measures.
