Kwalee’s Bangalore studio will work closely with the existing UK team, which currently comprises more than 75 staff, signalling the company’s global intent.

The team being built in Bangalore will contribute to all aspects of Kwalee’s business, as shown by the breadth of vacancies at the studio.

Game art, game design, publishing and talent acquisition are just a few of the disciplines in which Kwalee Bangalore is already hiring, with many more to come.

From the outset, the aim will be for Kwalee’s Leamington Spa and Bangalore teams to collaborate as though they are one studio, with departments made up of employees in both locations.

The look and feel of each studio will also be developed with this goal in mind, with Kwalee exploring ways they can use technology to help make the two studios feel closer to one another once COVID-19 related restrictions are lifted.

Between the UK and Bangalore studios, time zone differences considered, it will now be possible for Kwalee to achieve an almost ‘always-on’ workflow whereby employees in Bangalore handle tasks outside regular UK office hours and vice versa.

In the fast-moving and global world of hypercasual games, the company has said this is a major benefit as Kwalee looks to build upon its ever-growing 350 million+ downloads worldwide.

David Darling, Kwalee's CEO, said: "“We have long been a global company in terms of the developers we collaborate with and the players we reach, but we felt it was important to commit to this further by expanding beyond the UK and into Asia,” said David Darling, CEO of Kwalee.

“Bangalore being an established IT and gaming hub with a deep talent pool and international recognition, it was an obvious choice for us.

"Of course the current worldwide situation with COVID-19 might mean that a traditional studio opening is put on hold, but we’re excited to expand our team across both Bangalore and Leamington Spa, for the two studios to develop as a harmonious unit, and eventually meet the new team in person.”

The benefits of working at Kwalee include the opportunity for employees to pitch their own game ideas every Wednesday and a generous profit share scheme that paid more than £1 million directly to staff members in just over a year.

These benefits will also be extended to those based at the Bangalore studio.

As well as hiring in the UK and now India, Kwalee has recently opened some positions to remote applicants on a permanent basis as a direct result of lessons learned while working under COVID-19 restrictions.
