Kenilworth food festival has been cancelled.

The event, which is organised by CJ's Events Warwickshire, was due to take place for its fourth year on Sunday July 19.

The organisers said that Warwick District Council have extended their ‘event ban’ until the end of August and this may be extended further, and Kenilworth Food Festival falls within this timeframe.

Jamie Walker of CJ's Events Warwickshire said: "This decision has been taken out of our hands as Warwick District Council have extended their event ban across the district, whilst this is a huge disappointment, we understand and support the council's decision on this.

"Covid-19 remains a fast moving and complex situation, whilst markets and shops are reopening, hosting events which attracts thousands of visitors and are huge social events, is just not safe, nor allowed by Central Government just yet.

"We know this cancellation will be a huge disappointment to our exhibitors and thousands of visitors, and we sincerely apologise, we will announce a 2021 date shortly.

"We're looking forward to a much bigger and successful 2021 summer season."
