Kenilworth Arts Festival goes online with series of events and workshops

Online films and talks including the fascinating tale of the late actor Earl Cameron and performances by members of the town's jazz will be part of the 2020 Kenilworth Arts Festival; which starts on Saturday (September 19).

The festival will start with Art in the Car Park, a socially-distanced opportunity to see and support work from talented Kenilworth artists and celebrate the ‘green up’ of Talisman Square which was carried out by arts students from Kenilworth School alongside businesses and horticulturists in the town in collaboration with festival organisers.

This will take place in Talisman Square on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

The online events include Trish Clowes and Ross Stanley with Kenilworth Jazz Club presenting some newly composed music and renditions of favourite tunes, a discussion between writer Helen Pilcher and entomologist and science professor Adam Hart discussing the legacy created by evolutionary mischief-making and how humans are changing life on Earth, a discussion between Alison Flood and Holly Watt on the impact of writing in lockdown, The Life and Films of Earl Cameron - Earl’s 2015 In Conversation interview

on stage at the British Film Institute in Southbank, Debbi Issett will talk to the manager of the programme and events at Warwick Arts Centre John Gore about the films that have influenced her and how she got started as a filmmaker, a series of short pieces of poetry filmed on location in Kenilworth will be read by Matt Black, Liz Jolly, Aysar Ghassan and

Andrea Mbarushimana and Maria Ferguson will sourced poetry and online creative writing workshops

Alongside these events the festival organisers have been working on a creative exchange, partnering with artists to bring a selection of creative instructional videos. Including presentations from Sewing Bee’s Mark Francis, award-inning puppet makers, Little Angel Theatre, author Sam Langley-Swain, Coventry Cultural leaders Laura Nyahue and Cory
