A fault with Rugby's Clock Tower which has left some residents ticked-off will be fixed, Rugby council has confirmed.

Rugby's Clock Tower has taken pride of place in our town centre since it was built for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee celebrations in 1887 - but a fault with the mechanism means it appears to have adopted a renegade approach to timekeeping.

As of today, February 19, the clock was indicating 2.21 when the actual time was 2.06.

On another day the Advertiser checked, the Clock Tower was indication 12.18 when it was 2.25.

The fault has prompted some wound-up Rugbeians to take to social media to ask when it will be repaired.

The Advertiser contacted Rugby Borough Council, which is responsible for the upkeep of the clock.

A spokesperson for the council confirmed that an issue with the clock's gear mechanism caused the stoppage.

They added that the engineer who fitted the clock's mechanism will be coming out to fix it - but unforeseen circumstances are causing a delay.
