Last month The Myton Hospices launched an emergency appeal in the form of a special friends and supporters scheme called 'My Myton' in the hope to raise vital funds to help the charity get through the difficult Covid-19 period.

MP for Warwick and Leamington, Matt Western, was the first to sign up to the scheme and since then 125 people have pledged at least £10 per month for 12 months or more, totalling more than £18,000 for Myton.

The third national lockdown means that Myton’s 25 shops are once again closed and the prospect of face to face fundraising looks extremely uncertain, but Myton continues to play an important role in the response to Covid-19 by delivering vital services across Coventry and Warwickshire, and supporting NHS colleagues.

Myton CEO, Ruth Freeman, said: “We have had a fantastic response to ‘My Myton’ from our local community and we want to say a huge thank you to all those who have already signed up.

"We have been overwhelmed by your support, it really does make a big difference, at a time when we need you more than ever before.

"We expect to see overall losses this year of at least £1 million but our commitment to our patients and their families will not waver, and with the support of our local community I am confident that we can continue to provide our vital services now and in the months ahead.

"If you haven’t already joined ‘My Myton’ and are able to give £10 per month for 12 months then please do, and help us to safeguard the future of Myton for thousands of people across

Coventry and Warwickshire.”

Everyone who joins ‘My Myton’ will receive a butterfly pin badge, a special Thank You card and an update newsletter emailed each quarter.

The charity estimates that if 4,000 people join ‘My Myton’ the charity’s funding gap for this year will disappear and it will have survived the worst of the global pandemic with its services still intact.
