Construction work has started on the new Whitnash Civic Centre and Library building.

In order to involve and engage the younger members of our community in this project in Acre Close, the Mayor, Cllr Adrian Barton invited the local schools to take part in an art competition to design banners to publicise this new venture.

Cllr Barton said: "We received wonderful pictures and the judges had a really difficult task choosing a winner.

The winning drawings have been made into large banners and are on display around the Heras fencing at the new build at Acre Close for everyone to see.

Christina Herbert – St Joseph’s School

Florence Hurst – Whitnash Primary School

The winners were presented with book tokens by Cllr Barton. The High Sheriff, Mr Joe Greenwell, was in attendance along with Mr Andy Bodily from Deeley Construction.

There were also cash prizes for each school for their winning entry.

The fourth banner is a collage of some of the other stunning entries received.

The prize money was donated by Linleigh Electrical, book tokens by Whitnash Town Council and the banners sponsored by Whitnash Fun Day.
