Cafes, restaurants and bars in Warwick district are now being invited to apply to the council for a pavement licence.

The move follows new government legislation, incorporated into the Business and Planning Act 2020, which has streamlined the process for members of the hospitality industry to secure a permit to place tables and chairs on the pavement outside their business.

Cllr Judy Falp, Warwick District Council’s portfolio holder for health and community protection, said: “We encourage and support local businesses with their applications for this new licence, which will not only help them to operate safely while social distancing measures remain in place, but will also add to a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere in our towns in the crucial remaining weeks of the summer season.”
