Our upset as cat is killed by loose dog

My wife and I have just come home to find one of our cats dead in the passageway at the back of our property in Taylor Avenue.

It appears that after I let her out at about 4pm she was savaged by a passing dog at approximately 4.15 to 4.30pm.

Our cat was 19 years old and a frail old lady. It appears that our neighbours heard cat screams and thought it was just a cat fight but it appears that it was somebody’s dog that we can only believe was not on its lead and attacked it down a passageway that has no access to a road.

Also it looks like the woman who was walking the dog was heard to say to the dog (leave it, drop it now.)

Needless to say the woman ran around the corner with the dog after she knew what had happened.

At this moment both me and especially my wife are very upset at losing a pet after 19 years. What we can’t understand is why the person who must be a dog lover and hopefully a pet lover couldn’t try to find whose cat it was (try to knock a few doors or something like that).

Anyway somebody out there knows what happened tonight and I just hope they can live with it.

Where our cat was found is also a popular play area for a few young children and it’s lucky we found her and not them.

Maybe a letter like this might deter somebody from letting a dog off its lead in the future. - Chris and April Hiley, Taylor Avenue, Lillington.
