Our councillors were outnumbered

In response to Cllr Jerry Weber, you seem to be against “independent experts” (your speech marks). Apparently they are not needed as we have elected you councillors to scrutinise plans.

Well therein is the problem. The people of Warwick did not elect the majority of district councillors. In fact our elected councillors were heavily outnumbered. As a result of this the apparent scrutiny led to the Local Plan locating housing almost exclusively in the south of the district. Quite some way from the majority of councillors.

Perhaps the councillors can produce a map of the correlation between new building, their wards and their homes. I wonder if that would support your argument for their being no need for ‘independent experts’? Perhaps it would just add to the ‘plethora of opinion’. Heaven forbid anyone’s opinion be listened to.
