No university action over noisy students

With reference to your recent report (Courier last week) of a citizen’s arrest of a Warwick university student in New Street, we were astonished to read of the university’s mendacious comments on the situation.

Over the last two years the university has consistently refused to action any complaints regarding a continuum of bellicose/noisy gatherings, virtuoso screaming, and yelling from one end of the street to the other at all hours through the night, even letters to the Pro-chancellor’s office appears to have had no effect whatsoever, indeed for the most part, completely ignored.

The university’s policy to student problems outwith the confines of the university is simply not fit for purpose. To merely offer a standard ‘declaratory policy’ of intent knowing full well it’s utter contradiction to the operational reality would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious. - Mary Riley, New Street, Leamington.
