New shops are spoiling the Parade

I am writing to comment upon two new shops which have somehow made their way onto the Parade in Leamington. One is next to Boots on the Northern section of the Parade, and the other replaces Wallis near one of the Priors entrances.

I was shocked this weekend to notice that these shops had been allowed space on the Parade.

Firstly music was blasting from both premises onto The Parade. Secondly the window displays in both are atrocious. I moved to Leamington in 2004 and was charmed by how lovely the town centre was. The Parade managed to maintain an affluent image, and I am aware that there are rules with regards to shops signs, etc. which keep it looking so lovely. I was always proud to bring friends and family to the town centre to show off how attractive the shops were. However these two new features let down the whole shopping experience. I was genuinely appalled by them.

I appreciate that the opening of these premises may not have been approved by either of you, but felt it was my place to voice my concerns for the town as a whole. Allowing these types of premises to operate is a slippery slope - before we know it the Parade will be taken over by these cheap shops with luminous green paper signs in the window. I hope to never see that day, but I fear it will be sooner or later if this issue is not addressed soon. - Celia Parker., via email.
