Level of mess is unbelievable

I have never ever felt the need to contact a paper in my life, but as a local resident of the Harbury Lane fields we have had two years of travellers breaking down the gates and camping on the fields but I have to say after reading the Courier (May 27), the latest group of travellers sound nothing like the family you interviewed.

We have put up with a lot and when you can’t let your children out to play or walk your dog because of human excrement and sanitary towels in the bushes and ditches all along the fields there is a real problem.

We all agree that travellers have needs and places to go but the sheer level of mess they create is unbelievable. I could go on about the threats and abuse they cause to the local businesses in Whitnash but that’s part and parcel what happens when we get passing travellers.

But the field and health and safety concerns is a real problem. Nobody dare say anything as you get branded as prejudiced or a troublemaker. The police say it’s a council problem and vice versa. I have never ever written to a newspaper in my life but I just feel so angry I’ve attached some photos. (Above and on page 6) - Ian Partridge, Whitnash.
