I’ll fight to save our local shops
A Co-operative spokesman stated in the Courier (October 7) that “this store will offer a range of everyday essentials and customers will be able to enjoy the benefits of shopping with a true local community retailer”. Well perhaps he hasn’t seen what we have already here, a good sized supermarket, a chemist, a post office, a good KP newsagent with extra services on hand eg dry cleaning, an off-licence, a good tasty fish and chip shop and also a coffee shop. So tell me that isn’t a true community.
People do walk and cycle here and those that have cars can go to M&S on the Coventry Road or Sainsbury’s on the Birmingham Road, both near to the Woodloes.

So I suggest the supermarket spokesperson go and look elsewhere and leave the Woodloes shops alone. We already have a good community with good shops an people making their living here. Supermarket = seven boarded up shops.
I for one will fight this as much as I can to save our local shops. - Rachel Smith, Beaufell Close, Woodloes Park, Warwick.
