Club hub can only be good for the town

It was with great interest I read your front page report in the Courier regarding Racing Club, Warwick. I know a number of people who, in times past, were members of the Racing Club and who talked about its support for Warwick youth, its social events and outings, and how it provided a meeting place, particularly for people living near to its location in Hampton Road. Any revival of that past situation, particularly with the residential development that has taken place over the past years, can only be good for the area.

The location has considerable advantages as a sports venue, being part of St Mary’s Lands and adjacent to its open space for training. It is also easily accessible on foot for anyone living near Hampton Road and there is ample car parking adjacent to the premises for those from further afield. Also, it is far enough away from nearby houses to provide a good music venue without causing disturbance to neighbouring properties, (see article on Alibi in same Courier edition), and could possibly become a “showcase” for local talent.

All in all, if the club can be revived as a “social hub” for the area if would be of great benefit to the locality and many others from the surrounding areas. - Peter Kerr, Bread and Meat Close, Warwick.
